Why choose a cheap airline to fly?
Why not, if you can combine cheap airfare with comfort and a bit of class?
Low-cost airlines in the United States have flourished during the past few years. Bigger airlines like American, Northwest, United, US Airways, Continental and Delta Airlines used to dominate the skies until people realized that flying on cheaper airlines made no big difference in style and comfort, but saved them a lot of money in the end!
- JetBlue took the skies by storm in 2000, and have had a number of awards bestowed upon them ever since; including 'Best Low-Cost Carrier', 'Best Domestic Airline', 'Best Value for Cost' (Condé Nast Traveler, 2005 Business Travel Awards) and 'Best Airline Quality' (The Wall Street Journal, 2005 Airline Quality Survey). JetBlue currently services over 30 cities in the US, Bahamas, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, with more cities being added in the future.
They also offer excellent airline accommodation, free personal televisions, comfy leather seats and flight attendants who are known to be pleasant and helpful. Combine all this with low ticket prices and you get an excellent low-cost domestic carrier.
- Spirit Airlines flies to international destinations as well as flying within the United States to 16 destinations. Aside from its leather seats, the airline offers free drinks, too!
- Southwest Airlines took to the skies with the same impetus for success but with a class, all of its own. Its amenities are good but it offers huge discounts on tickets sold through advance bookings. Flyers find this an attractive reason to fly Southwest.
- Song by Delta Airlines, Ted by United Airlines, airTran Airways (flies to 45 destinations) and Frontier Airlines (flies to 43 destinations including some Mexican cities) are part of this growing group of cheap American Airlines.
